Evacuation routes are designed to create passageways from dangerous coastal areas to safer inland destinations in an effective manner. Best Read Guide has compiled a list of evacuation routes for much of the Southeast coastal areas.
Tips for Evacuation:
* Leave immediately when an evacuation is called for; if you wait, roads will become crowded to the point of impassibility.
* If you're ready to go and familiar with local streets and state roads, leave the night before. If not, wait until daybreak.
* Take good maps of local streets, statewide interstates and smaller secondary roads with you.
* If you can squeeze all you need in one car, leave the second car at home to keep roadway clogging to a minimum.
Evacuation Instructions for Other Cities:
Southeastern Region, Georgia and Jacksonville, Fla.
St. Augustine, Fla.
Savannah, Ga.
